The battlefield was set. The lights of Las Vegas shimmered over Thomas & Mack Center as Boise State marched in, warriors ready to carve their name into Mountain West history. With grit, fire, and an unrelenting will, the Broncos conquered UNLV 71-62, extending their reign over the Rebels and securing their third straight victory!
THE OPENING CLASH: TRADING BLOWS IN THE FIRST HALF!
The battle began at a slow burn, both sides measuring their opponent’s strength. Meadow struck first, establishing his presence inside, but neither side could gain a foothold. Through precision and patience, the Broncos built their lead from the free-throw line, going 9-of-10 early.
With just over two minutes left in the half, Degenhart rained down a deep three, pushing Boise’s lead to its largest yet at 33-25. But UNLV, desperate to defend their home court, answered with a flurry of points, cutting the gap to four as the teams vanished into halftime with the score 33-29.
THE SECOND-HALF ONSLAUGHT: BRONCOS TAKE CONTROL!
As the second half dawned, Boise State emerged like a storm unchained. Four different Broncos struck in the opening minutes, launching a 9-0 run that forced UNLV into desperation mode. Meanwhile, UNLV missed their first 10 shots of the half, their offense collapsing under Boise State’s relentless defensive pressure.
But like any great battle, the opposition refused to fall easily. UNLV clawed back, turning defensive stops into fast-break dunks, slicing Boise’s lead to just four points with under five minutes remaining. The crowd roared, the Rebels surged, and the game teetered on the edge of chaos.
THE FINAL STAND: BRONCOS REFUSE TO BREAK!
With UNLV pressing, Boise State needed a hero. Degenhart, Meadow, and Buchanan answered the call. The trio combined for crucial buckets, fending off UNLV’s rally. Meanwhile, Cardenas orchestrated the attack, finishing with 13 points, eight rebounds, and six assists, his playmaking the glue that held the Broncos together.
As the seconds drained from the clock, Meadow stood at the free-throw line, sealing the victory with two ice-cold shots. Boise State had withstood UNLV’s fiercest assault and emerged victorious!
THE AFTERMATH: A STATEMENT WIN!
🔹 Degenhart led the charge with 16 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists. 🔹 Meadow added 14 points, proving his mettle under pressure. 🔹 Buchanan played a key role off the bench, tallying 13 points. 🔹 Boise State dominated the glass with 45 rebounds, compared to UNLV’s 34. 🔹 UNLV shot just 1-of-16 from three, shackled by Boise’s tenacious defense.
THE ROAD AHEAD: THE QUEST CONTINUES!
With their third straight win and another road conquest secured, the Broncos now set their sights on their next battle. San Jose State comes to ExtraMile Arena on Friday night, and the warriors of Boise must be ready!
